Peikkometsä’s Villähde daycare is a warm and welcoming log building where four lively groups of curious little trolls explore, play, and grow together. Leppäkertut and Vesikirput are our groups for children under 3, while Hepokatit and Korennot welcome children aged 3–5.
The daycare features bright, open indoor spaces that support active movement as a natural part of children’s daily lives. Each group has its own spacious activity hall, complete with climbing bars and movement equipment. One room even has a retractable wall, opening into a large communal space for group activities and festive celebrations.
The adventure continues outside on our delightfully “Peikkis-style” playground. A grand tower with a slide and climbing tracks inspires independent play and daily movement. There’s also a dedicated ball field with goals, perfect for floorball, football, and all kinds of group games.
Meals are cooked right here in our on-site kitchen, with steam rising from the pots as delicious and healthy meals are prepared for our little trolls. This kitchen also provides food for our second Peikkometsä location in Nastola.

Here you’ll be welcomed by a cheerful and professional team of educators. We work with care, commitment, and a healthy dose of humor. A positive working atmosphere is one of our core values, and we actively nurture it.
Villähde has four groups: Vesikirput and Leppäkertut for younger children, and Korennot and Hepokatit for older ones. We enjoy working across group boundaries and supporting each other as a team. We also have familiar substitute educators who help ensure smooth daily life during staff absences.
Our beautiful outdoor space and well-equipped movement halls are designed just for children. Our in-house kitchen also prepares delicious meals for both Villähde and the Nastola unit.
One of the highlights of our year? Each group takes turns organizing full-daycare performances where both children and staff shine! We’ve created amazing dance shows, songs, circus acts, puppet theatre, and plays—filled with creativity and joy.

The response scale ranges from -100 to +100. A score above 50 indicates an excellent result.
The daycare opens at 6:30 a.m. Children who arrive early begin the day with calm play and cozy moments. As more children arrive, we gradually move into our own groups and enjoy breakfast between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.
After a nutritious breakfast, the day continues at an energetic pace. Some children head outdoors while others stay inside to play and explore. Our mornings are filled with a wide variety of engaging activities: some children practise their skills on a balance course, others do crafts, and some make music together. Outdoors educators organize yard games for children from all groups.
On forest adventure days, the group begins preparing for the outing after breakfast, heading out to enjoy the calm of the forest. Forest days are part of everyday life for all groups, and at times the older children spend the entire day outdoors—having lunch outside and resting in hammocks strung between the trees.
Lunch is enjoyed at the daycare between approximately 11:00 and 12:00, depending on the group. After lunch, it is time to rest together for a while—relaxation and quiet moments are important parts of an active day. Some children sleep until snack time, while others listen to a story and then return to shared play.
An afternoon snack is served around 2:00 p.m. After snack time, the groups head outdoors according to their own schedules. The daycare closes at 5:00 p.m.
At our daycare, we don’t let the weather stand in the way of outdoor play. Please make sure your child has warm, weatherproof clothing and plenty of spare clothes. This helps ensure your child stays comfortable, warm, and dry throughout the day.

Lahden kaupunki laskee taulukoissa olevista hinnoista jokaiselle perheelle maksettavaksi jäävän varhaiskasvatuksen asiakasmaksun omavastuuosuuden.

2. Hakemuksen saapumisen jälkeen päiväkodin lähijohtaja ottaa sinuun yhteyttä ja sopii ajan palvelusopimuksen allekirjoittamista varten.
3. Sopimuksen tekemisen jälkeen hae palveluseteliä Lahden kaupungilta tämän ohjeen mukaan: https://www.lahti.fi/
Tarvittaessa päiväkodin lähijohtaja auttaa palvelusetelin hakemisessa.
4. Palvelusetelipäätös tulee ennen varhaiskasvatuksen alkamista. Päätöksessä lukee, mikä on vanhempien omavastuuosuus ja mikä on setelin arvo. Lahden kaupunki maksaa palvelusetelin suoraan Peikkometsälle.
5. Peikkometsä laskuttaa omavastuuosuuden huoltajalta kerran kuukaudessa.
