The story of Peikkometsä began right here in this beautifully unique house in the heart of Nastola village—just 16 kilometers from Lahti. Nestled in a forest setting, our 600 m² fully renovated main building stands gracefully on a half-hectare lot, ready to welcome little adventurers.
Peikkometsä’s private daycare in Nastola offers spacious and calm surroundings for children. Each group has its own floor in the main building: Naavapesä, Lintukoto, and Peikontupa are for children under 3 and Usvalaakso and Sammalvuori are for children aged 3–5.
The interior is perfect for small group learning and creative play. Our cozy living room, complete with a fireplace, invites children to build, explore, and create new play worlds together. Upstairs, the movement hall is equipped with climbing bars, rings, and balance tools to help children develop physical confidence and joy in motion.
Outdoors our large forested yard invites year-round exploration and we regularly venture out to nearby woods. The trees and boulders on the grounds inspire climbing, balancing, and safe risk-taking within clear group-agreed rules. Our newly renovated turf field is perfect for football and floorball.
In the covered atrium yard, children can enjoy meals and take part in summer crafts and story sessions surrounded by nature.
Peikkometsä took its very first steps right here at the doorstep of our big, welcoming house in 2016. Our yard is beautifully natural and full of magical Peikkometsä-style adventures.

The response scale ranges from -100 to +100. A score above 50 indicates an excellent result.
The daycare opens at 6:30 a.m. Children who arrive early begin the day with calm play and cozy moments. As more children arrive, we gradually move into our own groups and enjoy breakfast between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.
After a nutritious breakfast, the day continues at an energetic pace. Some children head outdoors while others stay inside to play and explore. Our mornings are filled with a wide variety of engaging activities: some children practise their skills on a balance course, others do crafts, and some make music together. Outdoors educators organize yard games for children from all groups.
On forest adventure days, the group begins preparing for the outing after breakfast, heading out to enjoy the calm of the forest. Forest days are part of everyday life for all groups, and at times the older children spend the entire day outdoors—having lunch outside and resting in hammocks strung between the trees.
Lunch is enjoyed at the daycare between approximately 11:00 and 12:00, depending on the group. After lunch, it is time to rest together for a while—relaxation and quiet moments are important parts of an active day. Some children sleep until snack time, while others listen to a story and then return to shared play.
An afternoon snack is served around 2:00 p.m. After snack time, the groups head outdoors according to their own schedules. The daycare closes at 5:00 p.m.
At our daycare, we don’t let the weather stand in the way of outdoor play. Please make sure your child has warm, weatherproof clothing and plenty of spare clothes. This helps ensure your child stays comfortable, warm, and dry throughout the day.

3. Sopimuksen tekemisen jälkeen hae palveluseteliä Lahden kaupungilta tämän ohjeen mukaan: https://www.lahti.fi/
Tarvittaessa päiväkodin lähijohtaja auttaa palvelusetelin hakemisessa.
4. Palvelusetelipäätös tulee ennen varhaiskasvatuksen alkamista. Päätöksessä lukee, mikä on vanhempien omavastuuosuus ja mikä on setelin arvo. Lahden kaupunki maksaa palvelusetelin suoraan Peikkometsälle.
5. Peikkometsä laskuttaa omavastuuosuuden huoltajalta kerran kuukaudessa.
