In autumn 2022, Peikkometsä expanded to Espoo’s Järvenperä, opening a beautiful five-group daycare complete with its own movement hall. The delightful Peikkometsä-style yard invites local children to explore, play, and move freely. Our private daycare in Espoo accommodates five unique groups.
Nearby nature trails along the Glimsinjoki river offer wonderful opportunities for full-day forest outings. We pack our snacks and head into the woods to enjoy peaceful surroundings—and sometimes even take our naps in hammocks strung between trees after an outdoor lunch!
Järvenperä Peikkometsä also hosts a family café open to all, every other Monday from 9:00–12:00. You’re warmly invited to take a moment to relax and connect with other parents and children.

Welcome to Peikkometsä Järvenperä, where the joy of movement and connection with nature is woven into everyday life. Our central location offers access to both natural and cultural outings, enriching the children’s experience.
Our bright, five-group daycare opened in 2022. Groups Sammalmaja, Maahiskolo, and Kivilinna welcome children under 3, while Haltiavuori and Keijulaakso are for ages 3–5.
Each group has its own “tupa” (main room) and “kammari” (cozy nook), along with additional areas for self-directed play and activities. The spacious movement hall, complete with a climbing wall, inspires daily movement and imaginative play.
Our large yard enhances the learning environment with an impressive climbing tower and turf field where children can safely explore and develop new skills under the guidance of our educators. The sloped yard is used creatively throughout the seasons. During our weekly vauhtivartti (movement sessions), the entire daycare gathers for active fun together.
We also emphasize food education—children enjoy meals together and tend to planter boxes outdoors, where they grow and taste their own crops and explore local forest edibles.
Strong collaboration across groups and among educators ensures a vibrant, supportive environment. We value each staff member’s strengths and foster a positive, relaxed workplace where laughter is always welcome.

The response scale ranges from -100 to +100. A score above 50 indicates an excellent result.
The daycare opens at 6:30 a.m. Children who arrive early begin the day with calm play and cozy moments. As more children arrive, we gradually move into our own groups and enjoy breakfast between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m.
After a nutritious breakfast, the day continues at an energetic pace. Some children head outdoors while others stay inside to play and explore. Our mornings are filled with a wide variety of engaging activities: some children practise their skills on a balance course, others do crafts, and some make music together. Outdoors educators organize yard games for children from all groups.
On forest adventure days, the group begins preparing for the outing after breakfast, heading out to enjoy the calm of the forest. Forest days are part of everyday life for all groups, and at times the older children spend the entire day outdoors—having lunch outside and resting in hammocks strung between the trees.
Lunch is enjoyed at the daycare between approximately 11:00 and 12:00, depending on the group. After lunch, it is time to rest together for a while—relaxation and quiet moments are important parts of an active day. Some children sleep until snack time, while others listen to a story and then return to shared play.
An afternoon snack is served around 2:00 p.m. After snack time, the groups head outdoors according to their own schedules. The daycare closes at 5:00 p.m.
At our daycare, we don’t let the weather stand in the way of outdoor play. Please make sure your child has warm, weatherproof clothing and plenty of spare clothes. This helps ensure your child stays comfortable, warm, and dry throughout the day.
